In a short period of time Charlotte had settled onto her nest where she was incubating four eggs.
She would remain on the nest for approximately 35 days, leaving it only for short stretches of time to feed.

In the meantime Mr. Big had started to become "Mr. Mean." He was obsessed with patrolling
the pond and shoreline. He chased off all the visiting Canada geese – including a nesting pair –
and he attacked our two Great Danes whenever they walked near the edge of the pond.
